“We Watch the City: Stories in the Shadow of 9/11” is a 26-minute documentary exploring the stories of New Yorkers with developmental disabilities and those who support them in the aftermath of the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001. “September 11 revealed the remarkable capacities among many people with developmental disabilities,” said Charlie Lakin, director of the Research and Training Center at the University of Minnesota's Institute on Community Integration. “The confidence, determination and skills that they had developed as employees, community residents and valued citizens allowed them to accomplish remarkable things, not only in surviving, but also in helping others along the way.”
